I am happy to welcome two new members to our committee as a result of the voting at our AGM on the16th September. Their names are Jo Binmore and Diana Wilkinson and they have taken over the joint responsibility of serving as Social Secretary. They are both recent recruits to Monmouth U3A and as such are able to represent the views of our increasing numbers of new members. The committee is now up to full strength and we look forward to working together in the coming year to increase and improve the range of activities on offer to our membership.
On Wednesday, September 10th, three of us from the Monmouth U3A Committee travelled to Cirencester for the day to attend the AGM of our national organisation. A fuller account will be posted elsewhere on the website but I would like to record my personal impressions of the day.
The organisation could not be faulted, everything ran according to plan, there was meticulous attention to detail and the venue was superb. The opportunity to meet members from other U3A's and share experiences was as valuable as the published programme. You can be assured that our national organisation is in good hands with Barbara Lewis as our Chairman. She enthused and inspired us with her vision for the future. Under her Chairmanship, the NEC which includes our Wales representative Anthony Hughes, has produced an ambitious 3 year plan which promises support for the further development of the U3A movement nationally.
Could there be a message here for our U3A Committee? Watch this space!
