The line is a living museum, everything --- engines, carriages, stations, platforms ---- all havie been carefully restored with meticulous attention to detail by the dedicated team of volunteers.
We stopped at the Engine House Visitor Centre to view the massive locomotives and other interesting exhibits, including a Royal Mail sorting van and King George VI’s Royal Carriage, as well as informative video presentations.
On board again after lunch, via diesel this time, to Bridgnorth where there was the opportunity to travel on the Cliff Railway from Lower to Upper Town.
After time spent in Bridgnorth an uninterrupted steam-driven journey back to Kidderminster where our coach was waiting to return us to Monmouth, almost 11 hours after we had left!
All in all, a memorable day and a rare opportunity to experience life at a more leisurely pace than the 21st century allows.
